What made you start following the UFC?
Rich Franklin’s story drew me in because he was a math teacher, then started training in this piece-of-crap shed. I just liked the idea that you can just become something in five years-that you can become a superstar if you just put your mind to it

Have you ever seen a live UFC event?
No, but I love sporting events. I went to the Angola Prison Rodeo growing up a couple of times, so I think I could handle it. Great hot dogs, but gory, you know? People get hurt.
Have you seen the clips of them playing poker at a poker table with a live bull coming at them? The last man who drops his cards and runs wins. But they’re just playing for a free day in the yard or a pack of cigarettes.

I think attending a fight sounds a little more civilized than the Angola Rodeos. Are there any guys you would want to watch compete?
I would want to see BJ Penn. He looks like the sweetest guy on the planet and he walks out with his little Hawaiian music. Who’s that guy with the tattoo of Johnny Cash who walks out on “Ring of Fire”?

Alan Belcher – he’s from your neck of the woods.
He’s a freaking mess. You have to be a badass to get away with that, and he does.

Have you ever been in a real fight?
Yeah, once. I punched a girl in an abandoned gas station. She was this badass named PAULA who was picking on me at school. I was driving by the gas station and paula’s sitting there on a row of pallets she took out of the back of her van, making obscene gestures. So I pulled up with my car and I thought: “Let’s get it over with. If you’re going to do something to me, lets do it.”

A brawl at an abandoned gas station-sounds like one of the many benefits of growing up in the small-town South.
This story is so redneck. My friend Laurie was with me, and Laurie’s like: “If you’re going to hit her, hit her while she’s sitting.” And so I did. I punched her so hard that instantly, her face was putty. Then I walked quickly back to my car, she never retaliated. Everyone at school left me alone. I was just respected after that. That was my only fight, only it really wasn’t a fight.

Did you learn anything in particular from the experience?
Hit first. And make sure that it hurts [laughs]

What can you tell readers about your upcoming role in “Mardi Gras”?
I play a sweet, normal, college girl who loves her boyfriend and hates his beer-guzzling friends and town. My boyfriends character goes to Mardi Gras and a few things happen along the way that change his path in life and therefore changes my character’s.

Does your character transform into someone more or less like you?
She’s less like me. She turns into a psychopath. Come on now.

Thanks for the interview hun, Danneel is so sweet & strong but lots of people bothered since she was so young, I believe that this happens to her coz she's different & most of people hates different people.
But I'm glad to hear that she had made a strong fight, go Dani. I'm so excited to her new role, I wanna see a sweet role for Danneel like sweet Danneel we know coz I saw many bitchy or evil roles.
