Title: What are you reading now?

Paula - October 10, 2007 06:17 PM (GMT)
I started "Sellevision" by Augusten Burroughs (love him - "Running With Scissors" was so good) a while back but have kind of abandoned it for the time being. I really need to get back to it and finish it so I can perhaps start on a certain other book I'm being pressured into reading... :P

send us the book you finished w/ the xmas cards..after we finished it, we'll send it back over...cuz we can't find a book called twighlight and we're not gonna waist 10 bucks on a book we don't know what it's about haha

Paula - December 16, 2007 07:15 PM (GMT)
I did finish it, but, um... no way. It would cost so much to send the book back and for between the US and Belgium. Way more than the cost of the book. lol - Sorry.

Getting back on topic... I'm about to start "New Moon" (book two of the "Twlight" series).

twinzz-evelien - December 17, 2007 07:02 PM (GMT)
I'm actually reading now too  yes, a book, with letters..and more than 100 pages!... actually it's a 344 page book called Bloodstream...i'm only at page 50 (started it today) but what i've read is really good!

twinzz-dorien - December 17, 2007 07:21 PM (GMT)
i'm also reading a new book LOL...its called "dead simple" and is about a guy who gets burried alive at his bachelor party by his friends but who gets stuck after the same friends (only they know where he is) get killed in a car accident

http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/images/n26/n132499.jpg

<_< the "Twilight" book is in reprint now here in belgium...they took it away EVERY WHERE!!!

Paula - December 17, 2007 07:29 PM (GMT)
^ Ahhh, that book sounds horrifying! One of my irrational fears is being buried alive/getting stuck in a small place/suffocating/whatever. (Okay, it's not totally irrational - my idiot friend trapped me in a toy box when I was little and it took our parents a while to get me back out <_<) I could barely make it through the "buried alive" scene in Kill Bill without freaking out. lmao

Still no luck tracking down Twilight, huh?

twinzz-evelien - December 29, 2007 12:58 AM (GMT)
go read bloodstream! It's awesome!

Paula - April 9, 2008 06:12 PM (GMT)
Eclipse. At this rate I'll finish it just in time for the next one in the series to be released. lmao

I totally fail at reading. I never have/make the time for it. -_-

twinzz-evelien - April 9, 2008 07:01 PM (GMT)
currently..i'm reading and re-reading our own script haha

sawyerscott - June 12, 2008 09:55 PM (GMT)
Slam ~ Nick Hornby

lol I'm not into scateboarding or anything but my dad gave it to me and I thought I'd give it a try (; So far it's readable, already some lines I found quite amusing hehe

"Not knowing Tony Hawk is like not knowing Robbie Williams. He's definitely the big one. He's the J.K Rowling of scaters, the big mac, the ipod, the xbox." (;

Paula - June 12, 2008 10:39 PM (GMT)
^ haha. That's pretty cute.

twinzz-dorien - June 19, 2008 05:20 PM (GMT)
okay..so as we said, we bought two new 400 pagers ^_^

one is called: "The Tin Roof Blowdown"
which was written by JL Burke... (James Lee Burke)...on the cover it said that Bill Clinton thought it was the best book written that year... not really sure if BC read all the books but we didn't buy it because of his opinion either LOL...

QUOTE
From Publishers Weekly
Starred Review. In Burke's meticulously textured 16th Dave Robicheaux novel (after 2006's Pegasus Descending), Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath provide the backdrop for an account of sin and redemption in New Orleans. When Detective Robicheaux's department is assigned to investigate the shooting of two looters in a wealthy neighborhood, he learns that they had ransacked the home of New Orleans's most powerful mobster. Now he must locate the surviving looter before others do, and in the process he learns the fate of a priest who disappeared in the ill-fated Ninth Ward trying to rescue his trapped parishioners. Burke creates dense, rich prose that draws the reader into a web of greed and violence. Each of his characters feels the hands of both grace and of perdition, and the final outcome of their struggle is never quite certain. Burke showcases all that was both right and wrong in our response to this national disaster, proving along the way that nobody captures the spirit of Gulf Coast Louisiana better. (July)

the other book is called: The Chameleon's Shadow and it was written by Minette Walters...

for a synopsis:

QUOTE
The Chameleon's Shadow

How could he forget eight weeks of his life? How could thirty hours have turned into eternity? Why had the nurse said his wires were crossed? What was wrong with him?

When Lieutenant Charles Acland is flown home from Iraq with serious head injuries, he faces not only permanent disfigurement but also an apparent change to his previously outgoing personality.

Crippled by migraines and suspicions of his psychiatrist, he begins to display sporadic bouts of aggression, particularly against women, and especially his ex-fiancée, who seems unable to accept that the relationship is over.

After his injuries prevent his return to the army, he cuts all ties with his former life and moves to London. Alone and unmonitored, he sinks into a private world of guilt and paranoid distrust…until a customer annoys him in a Bermondsey pub…

Out of control and only prevented from killing the man by the intervention of a 250-pound female weightlifter called Jackson, he attracts the attention of police who are investigating three ‘gay’ murders in the Bermondsey area which seems to have been motivated by extreme rage…

Under suspicion, Acland is forced to confront the real issues behind his isolation. How much control does he have over the dark side of his personality? Do his migraines contribute to his rage? Has he always been the duplicitous chameleon that his ex-fiancée claims?

And why – if he hates women – does he look to a woman for help?
(synopsis from www.minettewalters.com )

we'll let you know whether or not we like the books as they progress ^_^

good thing: we got a 10 dollar discount when buying the books because of "the week of the exiting book" hahaha

both books are kinda...thriller, detective, police novels ^_^

annemiek - June 19, 2008 06:10 PM (GMT)
I'm reading 'Bringing down the House' by Ben Mezrich

Bringing Down the House: The Inside Story of Six M.I.T. Students Who Took Vegas for Millions

It's from that new movie '21' but it's based on a real life thing and apparently the movie has been changed to modernize it somewhat. So I'm reading the book first and then might watch the download I have but might not...made that mistake once with 'the Horsewhisperer' and wish I never watched that movie coz the book had me in tears....

velvetsky - August 11, 2008 08:40 AM (GMT)
I'm such an erratic reader. Been reading a lot of young adult stuff, despite my age. *L* It's a fun easy read though. Although most of my reading is reading over stuff I write. *L*

Paula - August 19, 2008 09:14 PM (GMT)
I just read Chelsea Handler's "My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands" (in less than a day - it was a quick read and so amusing). I'm about to start her second book, "Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea." She's hilarious. ^_^

twinzz-dorien - August 19, 2008 11:23 PM (GMT)
well.... WWII freak as I am, I'm currently reading

"Wild Bill guarnere and Babe Heffron"

which is, in fact, "Band of Brothers" (which we also own) but from the perspective of these 2 veterans instead of the entire company :D

I believe Evelien is readin Dick Winters' version LOL

twinzz-evelien - August 19, 2008 11:27 PM (GMT)
yup LOL..beyond band of brothers is what I'm reading

Which, i guess, is pretty much the same book as doriens, only from another POV

Paula - August 20, 2008 12:09 AM (GMT)

we're all such eloquent readers on this board! :P

u don't see that a lot anymore

Cora - October 17, 2008 09:01 AM (GMT)

I'm reading "Bone Key"

since monday I think-

I'm such a slow reader but actually reading is so much better than seeing it on TV because you still have to use your own imagination - which is better than a movie could ever be xD

Paula - October 18, 2008 04:47 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I've found in general that it's okay to watch the movie first and then read the book, but doing it the other way around always causes disappointment because you end up picturing things so differently than they end up appearing in the movie!

twinzz-evelien - October 21, 2008 12:39 PM (GMT)
throughout this month we have read:

James Patterson: 1st to die
James patterson: 2nd chance
James Patterson: 3rd degree

we're gonna get

James Patterson: 4'rd of July

in our mailbox soon LOL

Cora - October 21, 2008 02:06 PM (GMT)
oh wow-

Like I said I'm a very slow reader- I'm still on the same book- it's so creepy so I can't read it before I go to sleep- LMAO-
I'm such a chicken-hearted person^^

devilounette - October 21, 2008 05:27 PM (GMT)
I'm reading Murder on the Orient Express ! Already read it in French, but now in English

Cora - October 22, 2008 12:33 PM (GMT)

Or we talk about two different ones^^ :ermm:
