A showing of the gory slasher movie "My Bloody Valentine 3D" had just ended at a Valley Stream theater Sunday night when a security guard stabbed a moviegoer in the stomach, Nassau police said.
The movie, which tells the tale of a vengeful, pickaxe-toting man in a miner's mask, had ended and the security guard was ushering patrons out of the theater, police said.
A 16-year-old boy refused to go, saying he wanted to wait inside until his ride showed up.
An argument ensued between the boy and the guard, Ricardo Singh, 24, at the Sunrise Multiplex on West Sunrise Highway, police said.
They pushed and shoved each other, then Singh "removed a folding knife from his jacket pocket and stabbed the victim in the upper stomach area," a police news release said. The boy was taken to Winthrop-University Hospital were he received six stitches to close the wound.
Singh, 24, 1029 Cleveland St., Uniondale, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault. He faces arraignment at First District Court on Monday.
The movie, which is described in a trailer as "romantic in a sick kind of way," is a remake of a 1981 classic horror flick.
In the 3D movie, images of body parts, blood and sharp objects appear to hurtle toward the audience. Promotional posters declare, "Nothing says 'date movie' like a 3D ride to hell!"
