One Tree Hill creator commits to more TV
One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwahn has signed deals with two US television studios and is set to venture into the music business with a third agreement.
Schwahn has signed a two-year overall deal with CBS Paramount Television, effective from June 2009, which will see him develop new series projects for the studio.
He also inked a one-year agreement with Warner Bros TV, the studio behind One Tree Hill. The terms of that deal commit Schwahn to stay on as showrunner and exec producer of the series, which airs on The CW. This makes a seventh-season pickup for the ensemble drama look very likely.
Schwahn has also entered into an agreement with CBS Records to launch his own imprint under the label.

The cast members that have already been eying the door must LOVE this news.
As for me... I feel like this current season should be the last. They did their freaky time jump and showed us the characters as adults, and this just seems like the natural place to end things. I feel like stretching it any further would just be too much. Let the show go out with a little dignity - don't beat a dead horse. (*cough* Charmed *cough*)

LOL...true haha
maybe they can make a timejump 50 years into the future next and do something with:
trailer voice
"One Tree Hill, like you've never seen it before. New adventures, new love affairs and a new location. The Tree Hill Seniors and retirement home welcomes 6 new members who all know eachother from a distant past."
do we know for a fact yet who (other than Chad & sophia) has been googly eying the exit sign? LOL

I remember Joy saying she thought they should just do HALF a season of the time jump and call it a series. So I doubt she's thrilled at the prospect of yet another season. lol
Beyond that, nobody else I'm aware of.

TOO MUCH ! definitely !!! what's the interest ? OTH has already lost his first story, principally based on basket ball ...

Though, actually, isn't the cast only under contract for six seasons? I think I remember reading that. If so, I think it would be more trouble than it's worth for them to renegotiate with everyone for a seventh season. Especially the ones who have become much bigger names since starting the show (Sophia and Chad). They'll no doubt want a big boost in pay, which wouldn't sit well with the others unless they were all given raises, and it would be a big ol' headache - especially since I don't imagine OTH brings in the revenue they'd hope to warrant a bunch of raises. This is not Friends. lol

maybe the contract could be for a spin off ...

LOL...i can only reply to that with one of our own homemade videos:

Nothing, just curious if that's what it was.
Somehow, I doubt the majority of the viewing audience would be down with a Rachel-centric spin-off. We Rachel fans are tragically rare.

a bit too dramatic for Brooke and Rachel (even if it would be cool to watch Danneel plays a role less viwen and more "deep")
Cora - October 8, 2008 10:44 AM (GMT)
That's sad but true.
Most Brooke Fans or Peyton, or Nathan or Haley fans would probably love to see that Rachel was out of OTH...
And that's exactly what is going to happen if too many people start to hate her and centering an episode or season on Rachel would only make the haters hate her more <_<
As cool as it would be- I don't think it will happen- lets wait for the new show where Danneel will be on-
=]

extra info:
Please note that while Mark has signed a contract for one more year of One Tree Hill, and the actors are in negotiations, there's no guarantee that there will be a seventh season. The CW hasn't yet made any kind of announcement about renewing or cancelling the show.

I know- they will say it by the end of the year or so- I know that it's not decided yet- but just to dare a look in the possible 7th season.
