Title: 'Ten Inch Hero' distribution update

David's just been back from Cannes, and we'd like to give our wonderful friends out there an update on where we are with distribution.
As many of you know, distribution is literally a "one country at a time" deal. It often takes indie films 2 to 3 years to get distribution in any particular country.
As of today, Ten Inch Hero will be distributed and shown in the following countries: Germany (Yay for Kimmy and Dagmar), Switzerland, Austria, Portugal, Belgium (waves hi to the twins!), the Netherlands, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Turkey, Denmark, Luxembourg, and Lichtenstein.
When will be movie be available in these countries? We're not sure. But it's happening, so hang in there.
If your country is not on this list, don't worry...we're working on it! Some countries are just harder to sell than others. But we're making it happen--one country at a time! |
Sob, no US yet. :( But the twinzz got a shout-out! :P
When it hits DVD over there you best hook me up! lol
Chevy - June 8, 2008 08:40 AM (GMT)
I'm sorry that it's not being released everywhere yet, but I'm squeeeeing sooo loud here! Woooohoooo! Netherlands!!! I sooo need to go and see this. And since I live close to the Belgian border, I might even go there. Or Germany, depends where they show it. If it's Cologne, I can go there too.
*is happy*
twinzz-dorien - June 8, 2008 02:27 PM (GMT)
AWESOME!!!!
we love our shoutouts LOL
can't wait!!!
and yes..;we'll hook you up with a copy paula :D ..if you would want one haha (undoubtadly so but ...haha)
Paula - June 8, 2008 10:52 PM (GMT)
Of course I would! Assuming there's still no US release in sight at that time. (I'd of course buy another copy over here when the time comes.)
Elle - June 9, 2008 04:54 PM (GMT)
I've told my friend to pick a place becasuse we're flying out!

:P oki doki..we'll pick u up a copy from the moment it gets here ... IF the US'ians don't get it first LOL (still possible that you guys get a faster distribution when one is found)
ours will probably be ...less..."cencored" though ... we don't really frown upon sex scenes and such (a lotta scenes that are left out in american movies are implemented in movies here)
Paula - June 9, 2008 06:13 PM (GMT)
It might be interesting to have a Belgian copy and an American copy, if only to compare the two.

haha..we have an american & a belgian copy of "annapolis" ...but that was just because it was for sale earlier in the US and we happened to be there and run into a FYE store haha
no difference there though (no sex scenes LOL) ...the only diff. is that there are more extras on the american one & the cover is dif. too
just let us know (when its out) if you want us to send ya one :D
maybe one could get copies of all countries to search for differences haha
Paula - June 9, 2008 06:48 PM (GMT)
Yeah, definitely - let me know when it's on DVD there and assuming it's not already out here (who knows how this will all play out), I'll PayPal you some money so you can send me a copy. ^_^

Looks like Sweden has a DVD release date - October 29!
Source:
http://community.livejournal.com/dean_sam/4898244.htmlHas anyone come across release dates for any other countries? Please keep us posted!
annemiek - July 8, 2008 04:28 PM (GMT)
Hahha i was just over here to post that! ;p
Nope, cant find anything else yet and I wish she would post a link to where she got the info from....
Paula - July 8, 2008 04:31 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I'm assuming she got it from an online store or something - hopefully that date is reliable. I'd try checking out online stores for other countries that are supposed to be getting it, but I'd be lost trying to navigate them in foreign languages anyway. A project for somebody more multi-lingual, perhaps? lol
twinzz-dorien - July 8, 2008 09:24 PM (GMT)
no release date for belgium yet (acc. to the online stores) ... normal stores don't have a rel.date either (asked around again...)
If the sweden date is correct, we guess that means that that would be the date (or just about..) that the rest of the assigned countries get the release too...
lets hope they still remember this post:
http://teninchhero.blogspot.com/2007/02/bloopers.htmlLOL
its great that Sweden's got a date already though :D
twinzz-evelien - July 8, 2008 09:27 PM (GMT)

But ooh, you can see the cover art!

Chevy - July 27, 2008 09:02 AM (GMT)
I read on LJ that they don't ship outside of Sweden. So much for ordering then... :(

that's so weird
a girl from Australia told me that Germany would be the first country to be able to order and receive the DVD of TenInchHero
=(
but I don't care- as long as the DVD appears in the next two months
=D
I've heard of a screening in London on the 3rd September I think- or was it the 5th?? hmmm- the flight there would cost me 130€ but I am not sure what the ticket for the screening costs- hahahahha :P

they said tickets for that even were about £25 pounds per ...
which, i guess, would be around... 40-50 euros
we're not gonna spend our money on that..seeing we ordered tickets for a convention in the UK where danneel is going to as well
since the DVD is bound to be released, we'd rather not spend 200 euros on something which will be on DVD a couple of months later..
Cora - July 27, 2008 02:12 PM (GMT)
yeah exactly- that's the same thing I was thinking-
I mean a day in London would be great but just for the screening- and then I'm just at the airport- not even at the cinema- so yeah- you are very right about that- this would be kind of insane^^
I wish I could go to the convention but no one wants to go with me =(
and going their alone is so not cool =(
are there even still tickets?????????????????
please please please make videos and pictures! haha

well..you'll probably meet a lot of people there :)-
and yes...there are still (a lot) of tickets
twinzz-dorien - July 27, 2008 02:19 PM (GMT)
Yeah, there are still tickets :) ... they're still looking for bookers ... since they need as much attendees as possible
well..Evelien & I are going to the convention...and a few other members on the board as well..so we don't think u'll be completely alone ...
Cora - July 27, 2008 02:44 PM (GMT)
that's true but the way to England you know- that would be me alone
I'm scared of flying alone^^
Paula - July 27, 2008 07:53 PM (GMT)
^ Aww. Have you ever flown before? If so, you should be fine. I fly alone all the time. My first flight ever was alone, actually - I was fine. lol
They are torturing me with this overseas distribution news. I realized one thing that may put a damper on me getting a copy from overseas - if they slap subtitles over it since it's in English. I would be so annoyed. Does anyone know if that's standard practice for English-language movies in other countries? Or is it usually an optional thing you can turn on/off?

Dont worry Paula!! you can ALWAYS turn the subs off! I hate watchisng movies with subs I just need to see everything in English because dubbing (and even subs) ruins the movie coz sometimes they dont get slang or certain phrases and yea...
so dont worry! :)
annemiek - July 27, 2008 11:14 PM (GMT)
Oh and flying is not that bad. I always fly alone too and its fine :)

That's good. Now somebody in Sweden needs to be smart and buy up a bunch of copies and put them on eBay for the rest of us around the world desperate to buy it. haha

Evelien & I watch everything without subs too...they're too annoying! especially when the translator try to match an english word-game to something in dutch or whichever language!!! ...it just doesn't work!
one time, we were watching a TV show and they actually had "New York" subbed as "Brussel" (brussels) haha
twinzz-evelien - July 29, 2008 09:57 PM (GMT)
oh..yes..those fun tidbits... every word game goes lost in translation anyway..so what's the use of using them haha
Paula - July 30, 2008 03:12 AM (GMT)
lol. Subtitles for the lose.
Why isn't there news for this being released anywhere else yet?!
