Title: The Donnas

Paula - September 25, 2007 12:45 AM (GMT)
Anyone else into them? I'm loving on their new CD at the moment. I was supposed to go see them in Chicago this coming weekend, but that plan kind of fell through. Bummer. :(

Anyway, I think their music's really fun, and the girls themselves are hilarious. They included a bonus "making-of" DVD with an album they put out a few years ago and it's so amusing. They're really random and goofy. My kind of girls!

Here's their latest music video, if you're interested. They're kind of going for an 80s metal throwback type thing here, lol...

I want Torry's zebra-striped drums!

cactus_oth - September 25, 2007 07:25 PM (GMT)
Lmao.

Freaks!

Okie, not totally what i would listen to (or picture you listening to Paula, you are surprising me by the minute :o )

But it's cool. I like their album artwork better though :P :P

Paula - September 26, 2007 02:28 AM (GMT)
Hah, they really are freaks, but that's why I love them. They're so funny.

So what kind of music DID you picture me listening to, then, if not The Donnas (or Lady Sovereign, hahaha)?

And you know you want the cover as your desktop, too. :P

cactus_oth - September 29, 2007 01:36 PM (GMT)
Lmao. Aw, yeah.. You know i want it :P ..NOT

hehe. jk. I do think it's hilarious!

I pictured you would be listening to more sophisticated music so to speak...
Like, Cajkovski, Modest Petrovic Musorgski, Beethoven, Mozart etc...

:D Guess i was wrong.

Paula - September 29, 2007 08:56 PM (GMT)
Oh, of course, once you hit 20 they take away all your fun music and make you listen to classical all the time. It's tragic. :(

But I do seem to recall liking The Donnas, back in "the goold old days" when I was allowed. lol

Now, i have to disagree. Classical music is in fact FUN. I love Vltava <33 It's all swirly and melody....

Ehm, I honestly pictured you listening to that, maybe even through in some opera, Pavarotti (rip) and co.

But oky skiddles B)

Paula - September 29, 2007 09:25 PM (GMT)
lmao. Wow. I thought you were joking. That's definitely not my kind of music. I'm not sure if you'd weep or burst out laughing if you saw the contents of my iPod. Maybe some of both?

cactus_oth - September 29, 2007 09:29 PM (GMT)
Ow, do tell. Now you got me all intrigued :P
And i wanna laugh

(i WAS joking about the opera thing :/ lol)

Paula - September 29, 2007 09:34 PM (GMT)
Oh. Whoops. Jokes don't always translate so well in print. lol

And please, like I'm going to share any more of my musical interests with you! You've laughed enough! haha

cactus_oth - September 29, 2007 09:59 PM (GMT)
LOL :D

Aw, meanie! Then why bing it up, if not torture me in ignorance.

I promise not to laugh

*crosses fingers* :P

Paula - September 29, 2007 10:04 PM (GMT)
lol. I don't really know how to answer the question anyway! I have nearly 30 gigabytes of music in my iPod. I'd really have to just hand it to you and let you scroll through it to get the full effect. So if you want to know, I guess you'll just have to make a trip to the US to find out. Meet you at the OTH charity game? :P

As usual, we fail at staying on topic. YAY, THE DONNAS! lol

I'm still sad I'm not going to see them tonight as planned. :(

cactus_oth - September 29, 2007 10:14 PM (GMT)
Aw Paula *hugs* sowy to hear that.

You will def. see them soon enough though ;)
From what i've seen the girls are young, and def. have A LOT of energy :D

hee. We indeed get easily off topic, but since you are like the admin or something fancy like that, it's all cool. :D

Ugh. Rub it in why don't you :( Charity game. :( Paul. Chad. Sophia. Hil legs. Danneel legs. *sigh*

Paula - September 29, 2007 10:35 PM (GMT)
Gah, in a ridiculous turn of events, now we MIGHT be going yet tonight? It's up in the air at the moment. All I know is that I need to get my ass in the shower and get ready in case we are heading out soon. lmao

And lol - me being the admin makes it worse, I think. I'm supposed to be setting an example here!

And I'm not rubbing anything in. I very much doubt I'll actually get to go to the charity game. I really want to, though!

Anyway, I'm off to get ready - hopefully to see The Donnas! (Or to return here bummed again if not. lol)

Edit: So much for that! The Donnas are on stage down in Chicago as we speak, and I... am at home, wishing I was there. Boo. Better luck next time, I guess.

cactus_oth - October 1, 2007 07:40 PM (GMT)
Aw :( Bummer.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the next time the Donnas girls are in town B)

Paula - October 1, 2007 08:09 PM (GMT)
Hah, they weren't actually IN town - that was the problem. They were in Chicago, which is over three hours each way from here. I hate living here. Nobody ever tours here. <_<

OMG! Paula ....says a person living in frieking Wisconsin!

What should i say, then? <_<

You can at least go to some other places, i would have to rob a bank or something to afford a trip to USA :/ Lol.

Yeah. I'm a little annoyed. So if you wanna trade places, say time and place baybe, time and place.... ? :D jk.

Paula - October 2, 2007 04:50 PM (GMT)
Aww. Fair enough. But the grass is always greener, you know? I have friends who live out in California who are always getting to go to concerts and the "so close yet so far" factor is seriously frustrating.

But yes, I'll concede that your concert prospects are probably much worse in Croatia than I have it here in Wisconsin. lol

twinzz-evelien - October 7, 2007 12:41 AM (GMT)
that is one purple , grungy looking wall for the donna's lol

if you've surfed this board, i think you can establish tha twe at least like one song of theirs!

Paula - October 7, 2007 12:43 AM (GMT)
I think it's fantastic. :P

And yes, I think I know which song you're referring to.

"Don't wanna go to the mall... don't wanna go to the movies... I think we've done it all, just take me to the backseat!"

They're very classy girls. haha

I'm sorry, I looked on the board and didn't see the topic, so I started another one

Song I like most around these days is "Keep on loving you". Love the guitare in the beginning. And I love Brett Allison ! She's got an awesome voice
