Title: Charmed
Paula - April 21, 2008 06:12 PM (GMT)
Since we were getting off-topic in another thread...
Who else loved Charmed? I did - for the first three seasons, anyway. As I mentioned in the other thread, the show died when Prue did as far as I'm concerned. It became such a different show from the fourth season on, and a major downgrade in my opinion. I actually like Rose McGowan, so that wasn't the issue - I gave season four a chance and just couldn't get into it and gave up at some point mid-season. RIP, Charmed. lol
Quick poll: Who was your favorite Halliwell? Mine was Piper. I love Holly. ^_^
twinzz-dorien - April 21, 2008 06:16 PM (GMT)
it got REALLY bad after piper had her first baby LOL ..we kinda stopped watching after that
did you hear that they actually implemented a new sister or whatever cuz the storylines had dried out but they didn't wanna stop writing the show? ...
the 4th with is played by that ...blonde girl from "8 simple rules"
Paula - April 21, 2008 06:21 PM (GMT)
Ah, yeah, Kaley Cuoco - she's on "The Big Bang Theory" now. I never saw any of those episodes but heard about them bringing her in. How many sisters can they freaking dig up? lmao - Paige was already pushing it. I had no idea Kaley was supposed to be a sister, too. WTF. Now I'm curious how they pulled that one off...
twinzz-dorien - April 21, 2008 06:23 PM (GMT)
i don't know on whether or not she's a sister..;but she does live in with them and stuff ...so i guess they're pretty close...
and "what a coincidence" that paige also started with a P!
can you imagine her name being Cassandra or somehting? LOL
than Piper would have to call her club
"P2...+C" or something like that LOL

i always find it funny tthat shows like charmed always seem to remember their lost sister for only 1 more season..for the rest..the memory is lost..no more mention..no more pictures,...nothing
Paula - April 21, 2008 06:48 PM (GMT)
I think the lack of pictures has to do with them not being able to use the actor's likeness after they've left the show (especially under the nasty terms Shannon did). As for the mentions... I think there was a lot of bitterness all around, and after the initial grieving period they just kinda let it go. Not saying it's right or at all realistic, but you know. heh
twinzz-dorien - April 21, 2008 06:51 PM (GMT)
shannen doherty and aaron spelling stuff really don't mix well LOL
(she got fired from Beverly hills (zip code LOL...too lazy to type it out haha) in the same way as the left charmed ...with a huge feud! ahha
Paula - April 21, 2008 07:08 PM (GMT)
..."90210" would have been a lot faster to type than what you put. lmao
I'm still pretty pissed about how they handled Shannon's dismissal from Charmed. It was some of the tackiest shit ever. Shannon went to Spelling and asked to be released from her contract - he said no, so she dealt with it and continued to put her all into the show, and then the ass waited until she was overseas promoting the show to let her know that she wouldn't be needed back next season. (There are also those lovely rumors that it was Alyssa Milano's ultimatum that caused this...)
Seriously, what the hell is that? Holly gave an interview back then and committed what would generally be considered a major "no-no" in the industry, and went on a rant about the show she was still employed by, about how poorly they treated Shannon and how she was so angry that she nearly followed Shannon out the door, but was convinced to stay (apparently a steep raise and producer status talks, lol). She mentioned how disgusted she was filming Prue's funeral, and how she didn't really even have to fake the emotions because she was so upset at what was going on behind the scenes.
Huge mess all around. I think that really soured me of the show, and the quality of the show took such a dive that even Holly couldn't keep it watchable for me.
Wheee. I wrote a novel.

oh, she did?... that's nice of her... I didn't know her firing went so..sour... piss poor sour actually...
Paula - April 21, 2008 08:13 PM (GMT)
Yeah, pretty much. She admits that she made mistakes and brought the firing from '90210' on herself, but I really don't think she deserved what she got from 'Charmed.'
Fun fact: I was never that crazy about Julian McMahon as Cole, yet I find him sexy as hell as Christian on 'nip/tuck.' What a difference a few years makes. lol

she wasn't supposed to be a sister. She was another witch that they met. i think she might've been Paige's charge. I don't know, i was was a really big Chramed fan, but it started going downhill in the last two or three seasons so i didn't watch as much.
someone said something about Paige's name. it wasn't a coincidence. they explained that the girls' mother asked that her name begin with a P when she handed her to a nun to go up for adoption.
Paula - April 22, 2008 04:55 PM (GMT)
^ Ah, okay, thanks for clarifying. :)
I'm half tempted to rent some of the later seasons on DVD to see what went on, but I'd probably just be annoyed. Maybe I'm better off not knowing. lol - I do keep meaning to rent the disc from the last season with bonus features, though - it always pissed me off that there were no bonus features on any of the other DVD sets. What's that about?
NikkiHolly - April 23, 2008 12:41 AM (GMT)
idk, but i just looked up the special features on youtube, and a lot of them are there.

i find julian mcmahon annoying to watch onscreen all the time... years didn't change anything for me haha
Paula - April 23, 2008 05:35 PM (GMT)
^ More Dr. Troy for me, I guess. :P
So nobody answered my lame question from earlier on - who was your favorite Halliwell sister? Everyone always seemed to have a definite favorite for some reason or another. lol

:P piper
twinzz-dorien - April 23, 2008 05:42 PM (GMT)
in a non-random order LOL (which means that I've put them in the correct order already LOL)
Prue
Piper
Phoebe
Paige LOL
Paula - April 23, 2008 05:55 PM (GMT)
haha. For me it's...
Piper
Prue
Paige (the half season or so I saw of her. lol)
Phoebe (I can't stand Alyssa Milano!)
twinzz-dorien - April 23, 2008 06:36 PM (GMT)
Alyssa Milano speaks..kinda funny LOL...sometimes it seems like she's got too much saliva in her mouth (did I write that right? LOL)
not fair..ur taking over my technique LOL
I, for one, cannot stand rose mcgowan
Paula - April 23, 2008 09:03 PM (GMT)
I was just borrowing your technique. lol
Alyssa... ugh. There's that, and also the ridiculous faux baby voice she uses way too often for a grown woman. Makes me want to pound on her.
Rose rocks! I'd liked her in other things and was really shocked to hear she'd signed on to Charmed. It was so... not her.

Paula - June 11, 2008 12:59 AM (GMT)
Yup, sorry, no Phoebe love from me. lol
I have seasons one through three on DVD. I really should get them out one of these days and watch some of my favorite episodes. It's been a long time.

it's been quite some time since we've seen the first few seasons '(kinda grew tired of them after a couple of reruns) ...but we can still remember quite a lot of those spells hahahahhaa
twinzz-dorien - June 12, 2008 02:09 PM (GMT)
we are such geeks! LOL:
Hear now the words of the witches
The secrets we hid in the night
The oldest of gods are invoked here
The great work of magic is sought
In the night and in this hour
I call upon the ancient power
Bring your powers to we sisters three
We want the power
Give us the power
and no..we did not just have to look that up :)
sawyerscott - June 12, 2008 03:55 PM (GMT)
lol I was obsessed with knowing the spells by heart haha I even had that one hangin' on my walls :P
twinzz-dorien - June 12, 2008 04:34 PM (GMT)
did they work? LOL
we just kinda picked them up along the way :D
Paula - June 12, 2008 04:55 PM (GMT)
Uh...
"The Power of Three will set us free... The Power of Three will set us free... The Power of Three will set us free..."
That's all that's springing to mind at the moment.

If I actually wanted the full series on DVD, I'd be drooling all over this...
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Charmed-T...te-Series/10281It looks like the Book of Shadows!
velvetsky - August 12, 2008 08:12 AM (GMT)
I used to watch Charmed, loved Seasons 1-4, and 5 was good too. Bought those on DVD. But after that it turned sharply down hill. I watched seasons 6 & 7 when they aired, and parts were good, there were things to enjoy still. But season 8 was almost unwatchable, just drove me nuts.
Prue and Piper were probably my favorite sisters. Though I liked Phoebe and Paige both. And I loved Phoebe and Cole... and loved Cole. *L* He was awesome. I also always liked Daryl their cop friend.
The faux baby voice on Phoebe was annoying. It was useful in like one episode and one ep only when she and Prue like reverted to child-like behavior. And even then, Prue managed to do a 'younger' voice without sounding totally lame. *L*

Wow, you actually made it all the way through the series? Props to you for suffering through all of that crap. Even Holly couldn't make it worth watching for me anymore, and I looove Holly. I gave up at some point in season four. I missed Shannen, was pissed at Alyssa for getting her fired, and while I like Rose, the show became something totally different and I just wasn't digging it anymore, so I was done.
Speaking of HMC, she's doing a pilot for a show that will hopefully premiere in fall. I'm not totally sure what it's about, but I'll give just about anything she's attached to a chance. I've really missed her!

since giving birth to her son, she hasn't really been working much, has she?

No, not really. She actually had another little boy in there, too - not sure if you were aware. She'd said she wanted to take time off and focus on raising her boys, which I can definitely respect, but I've really missed seeing her in TV/movies! She did a movie for Lifetime a year or so ago that was barely watchable - here's hoping the TV series, if it gets a green light, is a good one!
velvetsky - August 12, 2008 07:49 PM (GMT)
Well, I didn't quite see the whole series. I did get through season 7 okay. But I used to record eps (before they 'invented' TV on DVD *L* or at least before they started putting every show on DVD) and I'd save the tapes and rewatch eps. Which I did through season 5, which was why I bought the DVDs through season 5. It did change after Shannen left, but I still liked seasons 4 especially (though even it was not as good as the first three), and five I still found mostly enjoyable. Seasons 6 and 7 I stopped taping, and won't buy on DVD, even if they went dirt cheap. *L* But I still watched them on their first runs. Some episodes were fun, some I just barely managed to watch. Season 8 though, I tried, but I think a few eps in, I just stopped caring and did not watch the majority of season 8. I think I saw an ep, or parts of eps here and there, and my mother continued watching and would just kind of tell me what happened. And then I did tune in for the Finale, just to see how it ended.
But I still can't believe Charmed kept getting renewed and after season 5 of Angel it got canceled, and that show was AMAZING right to the end. But I guess if it hadn't, we wouldn't have David Boreanaz as Seely Booth on Bones now. *L* So guess that turned out well enough.
Paula - August 12, 2008 10:48 PM (GMT)
Hah, well that's still WAY more of the series than I made it through!
I do sort of wish I'd checked out the series finale just to see how it ended. Maybe I'll rent the last disc from Netflix and check out that episode and the bonus features (since none of the earlier seasons had them, grr).
