Title: Minor 'Ten Inch Hero' release update

Paula - April 5, 2008 08:17 AM (GMT)
This blurb in somebody's journal entry about the 'Ten Inch Hero' screening at EyeCon caught my attention...

QUOTE
They bought out David Mackay and one of the Producers for Ten Inch Hero to introduce the film.  Let me say a few things before I put my cut- apparently they are talking with several distributors, they say that this film WILL COME OUT! YAY! I was relieved to hear that.  Also they said that if we want to help, we should write to Kevin Levy at the CW and encourage them to show the film, as they have been looking at it and fan encouragement would really help.

I'm a bit confused by this - they want The CW to show the movie? As in, TIH would be released as a TV movie type thing? 'Cause, um, they'd have to edit the movie so ridiculously much for it to appear on CW that Danneel may not even appear in the finished product. lol (I exaggerate, of course, but they'd have to cut/censor so much...)

I really hope that's not what they meant by that. If they can't get a theatrical release, just put it on DVD and be done with it. Please, god, don't bastardize it for network television.

That'(s weird...we just got an email from Betsy yesterday and she said there was no news about the upcoming release ...

just saying..great if its true...but since she told us there was no news (litteral quote: "If we had news, it would be posted all over") ...

twinzz-evelien - April 5, 2008 05:11 PM (GMT)
exactly...Betsy said there was no news yesterday..so I think she's a bit more credible than some Livejournal blog..

Hey guys--

Trust me, it would be EVERYWHERE if we had news. Bummer. But we're not
giving up, and appreciate everyone sticking with us!

Are you guys going to Asylum?

B.

twinzz-evelien - April 5, 2008 05:14 PM (GMT)
i mailed betsy :P

twinzz-evelien - April 5, 2008 09:42 PM (GMT)
betsy has no idea what that blogger is talking about so..we don't assume it to be true

Paula - April 5, 2008 11:33 PM (GMT)
lol. WTF. I was going to point out that what I posted wasn't exactly "news," so much as assurance that there would be news in the possibly near future... but if Betsy has shot that down completely, I guess not.

Sorry, guys. -_-

Okay...we just received news from Betsy... she has talked with David and the CW thing IS something ...here's what she said to us:

QUOTE
Here's what's going on. The CW is considering distributing
the film, but they aren't sure whether it would be popular enough to
bother with it. We don't agree, but let's face it, the CW has ALWAYS
underestimated the strength of the Supernatural fanbase.

David probably mentioned that to someone, and it's gotten around.

Of course, we can't tell people to write to the CW, because that would
be unprofessional, but *cough* ya know, some fans like to write
letters, so... ::wink::

But you didn't hear that from me, right? ;-)

Is there a contact name and e-mail or mail address at CW to write to about getting Ten Inch Hero released? Also, will CW release Ten Inch Hero in the version that has been screened in some cities or will CW edit it down to the equivalent of a made-for-TV movie?

Thanks.

Welcome to the board, kyan! I don't have an email address for you, but I did track down this address for The CW (here)...

The CW Television Network
4000 Warner Blvd., Bldg. 168
Burbank, CA 91522

I think you could send things in addressed like this...

Kevin Levy
c/o: The CW Television Network
4000 Warner Blvd., Bldg. 168
Burbank, CA 91522

Thanks for the info from Betsy, E&D! I still don't know what to make of this CW business. If they mean they're going to air it on The CW, that would kinda suck. <_< There is no way it could be aired in its original form on that network.

yur welcome paula

I think that they just mean that the DVD might be brought out by the CW ...not that the CW is necc. gonna show it on their channels (yet...)

thx for the addy!

Paula - April 7, 2008 05:21 PM (GMT)
I don't think The CW does DVD releases, though. (Yes, their shows get released to DVD, but not under the "CW" label.) That's why I'm a bit worried. It would kill me to see it edited beyond recognition on The CW. -_- I'd hope the filmmakers wouldn't let it come to that, so hopefully I'm way off base here.

twinzz-dorien - April 7, 2008 06:19 PM (GMT)
haha...than all of danneels scenes would probably not make the cutting table

<_< than they'd better release a special edition too LOL

NikkiHolly - April 8, 2008 01:51 AM (GMT)
if they did show it on tv first, the DVD probably would have everything that was edited. I know that Normal Adolescent Behavior (with Hilarie Burton and Stephen Colletti) was originally aired on tv very edited, but the DVD included everything that the network edited. it would probably be similar to that with TIH....though i really want it to go to theaters.

Paula - April 8, 2008 04:07 PM (GMT)
^ Ah, well hopefully CW would take that approach, too - I just worry that they'd still keep it pretty tame for the DVD release, because if it's NC-17 (which it would be as is now), a large portion of CW's target audience couldn't buy it, which would be pretty detrimental to DVD sales. Le sigh.

Another blog comment from the EyeCon TIH screening (taken from here)...

QUOTE
After the stars filed out, we sat down to watching 'Ten Inch Hero' which was a better movie than I had originally anticipated. Rumour is the CW is looking to purchase it, and we were assured it would eventually come out on DVD or TV but the director's didn't know when yet. It could be in two months or two years.

Hmm. I wonder if he actually said TV or if this person jumped to that conclusion upon hearing "The CW" like I did. Should be interesting to see what (if anything) comes of this...
