'One Tree Hill' charity basketball tickets sold out in minutesTickets for the annual James Lafferty One Tree Hill charity basketball game sold out in 10 minutes this year. With a total of 1,300 tickets, that means more than two tickets were sold every second.

"We weren't expecting that. Last year, it took about two weeks," said Kate McHugh, who works at the YMCA.

She credited the ease of a new on-line ticketing system for the quick sell-out.

Some fans, however, didn't like the new system. In the previous four years, fans ordered tickets by calling the Wilmington Family YMCA or by showing up at the gym in person. This year, tickets were sold only at www.wilmingtonfamilyymca.org beginning at 9 a.m. March 29.

The Star-News received e-mails from fans who said credit cards with security codes that begin with "0" were not recognized by the system and complaining that international orders were not accepted.

Gray Lambeth, special events director at the YMCA said nothing was wrong with the system, however. It was checked out and approved by organizers before it was launched, she said. The only real problem was that some credit cards with security numbers that begin with "0" were indeed kicked out, but Lambeth blamed PayPal for the glitch.

As for international sales, a notice posted on the site said they were not accepted.

I don't think its fair that they excluded the non-americans...yet again

One Tree Hill-related events really have a knack for it being only available for americans...so the charity event would have been a nice exeption to that...

^ Yeah, that seemed a bit odd. If people want to fly in from overseas to attend, why can't they? Not that they (or anyone) would have had much chance this year anyway. Sold out in ten minutes? That is madness. lol

twinzz-evelien - April 1, 2008 04:59 PM (GMT)
yeah..the rolling stones get the same response as one tree hill LOL (last RS concert in belgium was sold out in fifteen minutes)

Paula - April 1, 2008 05:07 PM (GMT)
Yeah, it reminded me of those concerts that sell out within minutes. I think it was the first London show of the Spice Girls reunion tour that was reported to have sold out in 38 seconds. How the hell is that possible?! Can you say server meltdown?

It seems crazy that this little charity game in North Carolina sold out so quickly, but good on them. It's for a great cause. :)

yeah it is... sold out charity games can only be good news for the organisation that the charity is for...
I feel sad for those that wanted to go and didn't get the chance...but it 's good that the ones that did get a chance to, are helping someone else out

Paula - April 1, 2008 05:19 PM (GMT)
Yeah, major bummer for anyone who was planning to go this year and didn't get to the site within ten minutes of tickets going on sale. :\

twinzz-dorien - April 1, 2008 06:26 PM (GMT)
there, aperantly, are lot of people who wanted to take a friend or somehting but who now have to go alone cuz they could't order anymore ...

Paula - April 1, 2008 06:46 PM (GMT)
Ouch. Some people will probably end up selling theirs rather than making the trip alone. That would be even more depressing than not getting a ticket in the first place. :\

twinzz-dorien - April 1, 2008 06:53 PM (GMT)
yeah...and the worst part about it is that they're probably gonna go on ebay for a lot more than 25 dollars
