Title: Board Rules
Description: Things to keep in mind when posting.

Paula - September 3, 2007 01:38 AM (GMT)
Welcome to DH|MB! We look forward to interacting with you around the boards, but first, a few things to keep in mind…

* Be respectful of others. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and while you don't have to agree with them, it's no reason to pick a fight. Agree to disagree and move on.

* Stay on-topic. This one can get tricky, but please try to keep your comments relevant to the topic at hand. There's a whole section for off-topic chatter. If you find yourself getting a bit off-topic, please make a separate post where appropriate or take it to PM.

* Don't be a spoiler! Please keep any and all spoilers in their designated areas. There is a sub-forum in Danneel's "TV Shows" section that should be used to discuss spoilers for One Tree Hill or any other TV projects that may arise, and another for all other spoilers in "Other Movies & TV Shows." Posts containing spoilers in inappropriate places will be edited/moved/deleted as necessary. Also, please don't put the actual spoiler in the subject line, but inside the body of the message (this is because subject lines may be visible in other places).

* Give credit where due. If you're posting something you found on another site/board, be sure to credit them. (A link back to the page/post where you found it is usually a good way of doing this.)

* Don't hotlink. Hotlinking is posting an image (or a direct link to an image) hosted on another site. It eats up their bandwidth and is generally unappreciated. If you'd like to share a picture from another site, please upload it to a site such as Photobucket or TinyPic.

* Don't post/link to copyrighted material. It is illegal and can cause problems for the board. Use your best judgment - if it's on a site like YouTube, go ahead and post it (they have their own people to take care of illegal content), but linking to MP3s, torrent download sites and the like probably isn't a good idea.

* Please read before posting. Don't just read the first post of a thread, scroll past the responses already there and fire off a reply. This often results in the same things being said over and over, and the same questions being asked repeatedly, which gets annoying to the people who actually are reading what's being posted.

* Don't type obnoxiously. Please don't type in all caps (it's the internet equivalent of shouting), in crazy caps (tHaT wOuLd Be LiKe ThIs), or like you're sending a text message (dat wud b lyke dis) - it's annoying and makes your post difficult to read.

* Be safe. Always use caution when exchanging personal information with others. You should never give out any personally identifying information (your full name, address, phone number, where you go to school, etc.) - you have no way of knowing who you're dealing with or what their intentions are.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to PM me (Paula) or Elle, or post about it in the Feedback section.

Have fun, and we'll see you around the boards! :)
